Community Service Events and Information
Community service is one of the most important ways to improve a society, and the Greater Sacramento Urban League Young Professionals understands the importance of not only being a voice for the surrounding community, but also providing needed service to the community.
As a member of our organization, we expect that commitment from you as well!
Each member of the GSULYP group is expected to donate 40 hours of volunteer service in the community each year, with 25 of those hours dedicated to service towards the many Greater Sacramento Urban League programs.
Examples of Service:
1. Tutoring Students/ Mentoring young adults
3. Participating in a run/walk/event to raise funds/awareness for a specific cause
4. Participation in a home build
5. Volunteer at a food bank/homeless shelter
6. Volunteer at a health clinic/hospital/nursing home

Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services (SFBFS)
In addition to a host of other programs, SFBFS runs a very successful Mobile Food Assistance Program and always needs volunteers to help their efforts around Sacramento.

Shine On Sisters (SOS)
SOS offers a safe and supportive environment for teen girls, age 13-16, to enhance their leadership skills, improve their academic performance, and broaden their life expectations.
SOS is looking for dynamic, determined women with diverse professional and cultural backgrounds dedicated to helping inspire young girls to succeed and SHINE!
